India, UK to collaborate on quantum tech for climate-resilient farming

London: Ahead of British Prime Minister Keir Starmer’s visit to Mumbai next week, India and the UK are set to announce a special partnership using quantum computing and biotechnology to develop climate-resilient crops.

The initiative, led jointly by Imperial College London and the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay, forms a key part of the India-UK Technology Security Initiative (TSI).

The project focuses on harnessing quantum technology to generate healthy soil microbes and create advanced strategies for crop protection, particularly in arid and climate-sensitive regions.

Officials said the collaboration reflects both nations’ commitment to integrating cutting-edge research in tackling agricultural challenges posed by climate change.
