Washington: Two staff members of the Israeli Embassy, including a woman, were shot dead outside the Jewish Museum in Washington D.C. after attending an event, police said. The suspect, identified as 30-year-old Elias Rodriguez of Chicago, was arrested shortly after the incident.

According to Metropolitan Police Chief Pamela Smith, Rodriguez was seen loitering outside the museum before opening fire.

After the shooting, he entered the museum premises, where he was detained by security personnel. Witnesses reported that Rodriguez shouted “Free Palestine” during the attack.

The motive is under investigation, and security around diplomatic missions in the area has been tightened.
