Kenya: At least 11 people, most of them foreign tourists, were killed when a plane crashed in the Maasai Mara National Reserve off the coast of Kenya on Tuesday.
According to Mombasa Air Safari, the aircraft was carrying eight Hungarian nationals, two Germans, and a Kenyan pilot, all of whom died in the crash.
Officials said the Cessna caravan-type plane went down in a mountainous and wooded area, about 40 km from the Diani airstrip. The incident occurred amid heavy rainfall in coastal Kenya.
The airline has not confirmed the exact time of the plane’s departure from the Diani airstrip. Earlier, the Civil Aviation Authority of Kenya had said there were 12 people on board the aircraft. An investigation into the cause of the crash is underway.
