Ludhiana: At least 12 people were injured in a massive blast at Indira Colony in Cheema Chowk around 3 pm on Thursday. Four of the injured were referred to Rajindra Medical Hospital in Patiala for further treatment.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the explosion occurred in a house located in a narrow, densely populated lane.
According to officials, the house belongs to a man who makes effigies of Ravana and other figures during the Dussehra festival.
Police said the explosion was caused by a large quantity of explosive materials stored in the house for effigy-making. A detailed investigation is underway to ascertain the exact cause of the blast.
