ISLAMABAD: Twelve soldiers were killed after terrorists ambushed an army convoy in northwest Pakistan’s South Waziristan district near the Afghan border.
According to the Pakistan Army, the attack took place in the hilly Badr area where troops travelling in military vehicles came under heavy firing.
In the exchange, 12 soldiers and 13 terrorists were killed. Security officials said four civilians were also injured during the incident.
The banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) claimed responsibility for the ambush, adding that its fighters had seized weapons and drones from the troops.
