170 grams of gold seized from passenger at Delhi airport

New Delhi: Delhi Customs officials have seized 170 grams of gold from an Indian passenger who arrived from Dubai at the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport.

Officials said the passenger was under surveillance from the flight gate and was intercepted while attempting to exit through the Green Channel, which is designated for travellers not carrying dutiable goods.

During X-ray screening of his luggage, officials detected suspicious images and carried out a detailed examination. A round piece of gold weighing 170 grams was found concealed beneath the lid of a plastic bottle.

The gold was seized under provisions of the Customs Act, 1962. Authorities said that further investigation into the case is underway.
