New Delhi: At least 42 Umrah pilgrims from Hyderabad were killed when their bus collided head-on with a diesel tanker in Saudi Arabia on Monday morning, according to local media reports. The accident occurred around 1.30 am in the Mufrihat area near the holy city of Madinah.
There were 43 passengers on board the bus and only one survivor, who is receiving treatment at a hospital.
Indian authorities said they are closely monitoring the situation.
“Our Embassy in Riyadh and Consulate in Jeddah are giving fullest support to Indian nationals and families affected by this accident. Sincere condolences to the bereaved families. Pray for the speedy recovery of those injured,” an official message said.
