Punjab’s Farmers Stand With Gujarat’s Farmer, Every Farmer of India is With Farmers of Gujarat: Mohinder Sidhu
Punjab E News: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Punjab Kisan Wing strongly condemned the brutal lathicharge and arrests of protesting farmers in Gujarat, calling it a shameful display of BJP’s anti-farmer mindset. Addressing a press conference at the party headquarters in Chandigarh on Monday, AAP Punjab Kisan Wing President Mohinder Singh Sidhu, accompanied by AAP leaders Gursewak Singh and Gurmeet Singh Burj, slammed the BJP-led central and Gujarat government for repeatedly suppressing the voices of farmers instead of addressing their genuine concerns.
Sidhu said that farmers in Gujarat had merely begun selling their crops when large traders and capitalist buyers, with the tacit support of the BJP government, began rate cuts and deducting prices arbitrarily after rates were fixed. In response, farmers, led by farmer leader Rajubhai Karpada, organized a peaceful Kisan Panchayat to protest the injustice. However, instead of engaging in dialogue, the Gujarat BJP government unleashed police brutality, resorting to lathicharge and arresting innocent farmers without any provocation.
“Every farmer of India stands with the farmers of Gujarat today. Punjab’s farmers are also with them. This oppression cannot and will not be tolerated,” said Sidhu. He warned the BJP government to stop its anti-farmer and anti-labour policies and immediately release all arrested farmers.
He further said that it is once again evident that the BJP government wants to crush the farming community. “The Modi government, which had promised to double farmers’ income, has instead doubled their suffering. From black farm laws to market manipulation and police repression, every action of this government exposes its hostility toward farmers,” Sidhu added.
The AAP Kisan Wing President called upon farmers, labourers, and small cultivators across the nation to unite and raise their voice against the BJP’s anti-farmer and anti-labourers agenda. “This is not just Gujarat’s fight; it is the fight of every farmer in the country. Together, we must defeat this farmer-crushing ideology,” he said.
