New Delhi: India’s Abhishek Sharma has climbed to the top of the ICC T20I batting rankings, becoming the No. 1 batsman in the format in the latest weekly update released on Wednesday. With 829 points, Abhishek is now the third Indian cricketer to achieve this feat after Virat Kohli and Suryakumar Yadav.
Interestingly, Abhishek did not play a single T20 match last week. However, Australia’s Travis Head, who missed the fifth T20I against the West Indies, saw his ranking points drop to 814, allowing Abhishek to rise to the top.
In Test cricket, Indian wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant has moved up one spot to seventh in the ICC Test batting rankings after scoring a gritty half-century despite injury during the Manchester Test against England. Pant now has 776 rating points. England’s Joe Root continues to hold the top position.
There were no changes in the top 10 of the Test bowling rankings. Meanwhile, Ravindra Jadeja continues his dominance as the No. 1 all-rounder in Test cricket for the 177th consecutive week.
