Kathmandu: Nepal is witnessing a political crisis as President Ram Chandra Paudel resigned on Wednesday, following the resignation of Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli amid violent youth-led protests.
The demonstrations, which began on Monday, turned destructive, with protesters attacking the private residences of top political leaders and vandalizing the Parliament House.
The unrest has left 22 people dead and over 500 injured, according to sources. In response to the violence, the Nepal government lifted the social media ban imposed late Monday night.
So far, three ministers, including Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak, have stepped down.
