Akal Takht Acting Jathedar condemns discrimination against Tamil Sikhs, seeks action from Air India

Amritsar: Akal Takht Acting Jathedar Giani Kuldeep Singh Gargaj has strongly condemned the alleged discrimination and derogatory behaviour by Air India staff at New Delhi airport against Tamil Sikhs and Supreme Court lawyer Jiwan Singh.

“It is sad that today, when the entire country is celebrating the 350th martyrdom centenary of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib, who sacrificed his life for religious freedom and human rights, his Sikhs are being subjected to humiliating discrimination in a free country,” the Jathedar said.

He added that the incident with Jiwan Singh had deeply hurt the sentiments of Sikhs in India and abroad. While Air India has issued a written apology to Jiwan Singh and Delhi-based advocate Neena Singh, the Jathedar said this does not absolve the airline of responsibility.

He urged Air India to release the findings of its internal investigation and clarify what action has been taken against the erring staff members.
