Amritsar: The acting jathedar of Akal Takht Sahib, Giani Kuldeep Singh Gargaj, has raised concern over the increasing misuse of artificial intelligence to circulate objectionable content related to Sikh religious places and Gurus on social media.
In a message to the Sikh community, he urged people not to share such content and instead report it immediately on the respective platforms.
The appeal follows a recent incident in which an AI-generated image allegedly showed a skeleton wearing a turban inside the complex of Sri Harmandir Sahib, including visuals in the langar area and parikrama while wearing shoes. The content triggered strong reactions from Sikh devotees and the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee.
Expressing serious concern, Gargaj said such misuse of technology hurts religious sentiments and must be addressed responsibly.
He urged Sikh youth to remain alert and ensure that any AI-generated objectionable videos or images are reported promptly instead of being shared further, to prevent their spread and maintain the sanctity of religious institutions.
