TARN TARAN: Police have arrested Nachhattar Singh, a resident of Pheloke in Tarn Taran district, for allegedly obstructing CIA Staff Tarn Taran officials from performing their duty earlier this month.
According to police, the incident took place on November 5 when officials of the CIA Staff Tarn Taran were returning from duty near Jhabal Chowk in Amritsar. During this time, Akali leader Nachhattar Singh along with 20 to 25 other individuals allegedly stopped the police personnel and prevented them from carrying out their official work.
Based on a complaint filed by Inspector Prabhjit Singh, In-charge of CIA Staff Tarn Taran, an FIR (No. 261) was registered on November 15 at Police Station City Tarn Taran under Sections 126, 132, 221, 351(1), 62, 304(2), 191(3), 190 and 61(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
Police said the accused has been arrested after ten days of the incident and will be produced before the court within 24 hours.
