Amid infighting, Navjot Singh sidhu returns from Delhi without meeting Congress high command

CHANDIGARH: Former Punjab Congress president Navjot Singh Sidhu on Wednesday travelled to New Delhi hoping to meet the Congress high command, but he was unable to secure an appointment with any senior leader.

Sources said Sidhu remained in the capital throughout the day, waiting for a meeting, and eventually left for Mumbai late in the evening without success. He had reportedly sought a meeting with Priyanka Gandhi Vadra to present his viewpoint and facts related to the ongoing controversy surrounding him.

Meanwhile, the Congress high command has asked state in-charge Bhupesh Baghel to submit a report on the internal dispute within the Punjab Congress. Party insiders said the high command may take up the matter only after the current Parliament session concludes.

In a separate development, former MLA Navjot Kaur Sidhu had initially left for Delhi on Wednesday but later travelled to Patiala instead. Navjot Singh Sidhu returned to Amritsar from Mumbai yesterday, while Navjot Kaur Sidhu also reached Amritsar today. The couple has reportedly discussed their strategy regarding the latest controversy.

According to sources, Sidhu departed from Amritsar for Delhi at 10 am on Wednesday to meet the party leadership.
