Amritpal Singh’s mother stopped at Delhi airport, barred from travelling to Canada

NEW DELHI: Balwinder Kaur, mother of Khadoor Sahib MP Amritpal Singh, was detained at Delhi airport on Friday and prevented from boarding a flight to Canada. She reached the airport around noon and was scheduled to travel to Edmonton to meet her newborn grandson, where her daughter currently lives.

Airport Authority of India officials cited a lookout notice issued by the district superintendent of police (Rural) Amritsar as the reason for stopping her from travelling abroad.

Earlier, Kirandeep Kaur, wife of Amritpal Singh, had also been barred from flying to the UK.

Balwinder Kaur said she holds a valid Canadian visa and accused the authorities of imposing restrictions that make her “feel like a slave”.
