Ludhiana: Around 50 people fell ill after consuming langar at a gurdwara in Ludhiana on the occasion of Makar Sankranti on Wednesday. Those affected complained of vomiting, diarrhoea and dizziness, following which all of them were admitted to hospital for treatment.
According to information, a special religious programme was organised at the gurdwara located in the Ayali Khurd area, as is done every year on Makar Sankranti. A large number of devotees attended the event and partook of the langar and prasad.
Soon after consuming the food, several people began experiencing health issues. Local residents informed the authorities, after which the affected individuals were shifted to nearby hospitals. Doctors said the condition of the patients is stable, while the cause of the illness is being examined.
Officials said food samples have been collected and further action will be taken after the investigation report is received.
