Jalandhar: In a push to accelerate urban development, Nitin Kohli, in-charge of the Jalandhar Central constituency from the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), inaugurated development works worth nearly ₹20 crore over the past two days across 31 locations in the city.
Works worth ₹10.76 crore have recently commenced (without formal inauguration).
Works worth ₹10.96 crore are set to begin soon, with the tendering process already underway.
These projects aim to strengthen infrastructure and enhance civic facilities across all wards. Nitin Kohli appealed to residents to come forward and highlight areas that require development. “We will start work in areas based on public demand. Our objective is not just to show work but to create a system where every citizen feels the benefits,” he said.
Mayor Vanit Dhir said that since the AAP formed the government in the city, development projects have become faster and more transparent. “This progress is the result of teamwork and public trust,” he added.
Locations where development works were inaugurated include:
Moti Bagh Main Road and ADJ Road (Ward 5), Basant Hill Extension roads, Chajja Singh Gate, Laddevali Firni Main Road, various roads in Gulmarg Avenue (Ward 6), dog compound renovation in Nangal Shama, road and lane maintenance in West Ward 8, roadworks at Ekta Nagar ADJ Field Side, renovation of Anganwadi Centre in Ekta Nagar Rama Mandi, Revenue Road in Old Beant Nagar, interlocking tiles in Jagjit Nagar, Dhilwan village, park development near Dhannowali Hospital, roads in Kot Ramdas area, Maharaja Agrasen Park, renovation of park at Guru Gobind Singh Avenue entrance, and several streets and parks across Ranjit Nagar, Ward 12, Kapoorthala Chowk, Gopal Nagar, Hargobindpura, Kajura Mohalla, Wadda Ali Mohalla, Islamabad streets, Fish Market (Basti Adda), Surjit Nagar, Sangat Singh Nagar, and New Jawahar Nagar among others.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by dignitaries and senior AAP leaders.
