ASI found dead in Rohtak; video surfaces blaming senior officers, citing caste bias and corruption

ROHTAK: The body of Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Sandeep Kumar of the Haryana Police was found at his residence on Ladhoot-Dhamar Road in Rohtak on Tuesday. Police said preliminary investigation suggests it to be a case of suicide. Sandeep allegedly shot himself with a revolver, and a note was recovered from the spot, though its contents have not yet been disclosed.

Following the incident, a video of Sandeep went viral on social media. In the video, he is seen praising Haryana DGP Shatrujit Singh Kapoor and former Rohtak SP Narendra Bijarnia, calling them honest officers.

The ASI also accused several police officers posted at the IGP office in Rohtak of corruption, harassment, and caste-based discrimination against honest personnel. Referring to the recent suicide of Haryana IPS officer Y. Puran Kumar in Chandigarh, Sandeep alleged that such discrimination had become widespread in the police system.

In the video, Sandeep said he was inspired by freedom fighter Bhagat Singh and declared he was not afraid of anyone. He described his death as a sacrifice meant to “awaken the people and the country.”

Police said an investigation has been launched into the incident and the authenticity of the video is being verified.
