MELBOURNE: Australia defeated India by four wickets in the second T20 match at the Melbourne Cricket Ground on Friday to take a 1-0 lead in the five-match series. The first match was washed out due to rain and ended without a result.
Chasing a target of 126 runs, Australia reached 126 for 6 in 13.2 overs. Earlier, India were bowled out for 125 in 18.4 overs after a top-order collapse. Abhishek Sharma top-scored with 68 runs off 37 balls, while Harshit Rana contributed 35 runs.
Josh Hazlewood took three wickets for Australia, while Xavier Bartlett and Nathan Ellis claimed two each. For India, Jasprit Bumrah, Varun Chakravarthy and Kuldeep Yadav took two wickets each.
With this win, Australia have gone 1-0 up in the series. The third T20 will be played in Hobart on November 2.
