Aviation ministry directs IndiGo to refund passengers by Sunday amid mass flight cancellations

New Delhi: Passengers continued to face major inconvenience on Saturday as IndiGo cancelled hundreds of flights across the country. In response, the Ministry of Civil Aviation has issued strict directions to the airline, ordering that refunds for all cancelled flights be completed by 8 pm on Sunday, December 7.

The ministry said that in the event of any delay or non-compliance in the refund process, immediate regulatory action will follow. IndiGo has also been instructed not to levy any rescheduling charges on passengers whose flights were cancelled.

According to officials, more than 1,000 flights were cancelled by IndiGo over the past two days, including over 400 flights on Saturday alone, severely affecting travel plans at multiple airports.

The ministry further directed that all baggage separated from passengers due to cancellations or delays must be located and delivered within the next 48 hours. The airline has been asked to ensure strict adherence to these guidelines.
