Chandigarh: BJP leader and National Commission for Minorities chairperson Iqbal Singh Lalpura on Monday targeted Navjot Kaur Sidhu, wife of former Punjab Congress chief Navjot Singh Sidhu, saying she had “exploded the truth of the Congress” with her remark alleging that “Rs 500 crore is needed to become a chief minister”.
Lalpura said her comment was not a slip of the tongue but a reflection of the Congress’s internal culture. He added that her claim had revealed what he described as “deep-rooted corruption and money-driven politics” within the party.
Navjot Kaur Sidhu’s remark has triggered a major political row, with opposition parties using it to attack the Congress and demand accountability from its leadership.
The controversy continues to escalate amid heightened political tensions in Punjab.
