BJP raises security concerns after Chandigarh blast, flags possible threat to Ashwani Sharma

Chandigarh: The BJP has termed the blast outside its Punjab office in Chandigarh as “shocking and deeply concerning”, raising serious questions over security and law and order in the state.

Party national spokesperson RP Singh said the incident becomes more serious as state BJP working president Ashwani Sharma had been present at the same office for the past two days and had left for Delhi earlier on the day of the blast.

Singh also pointed out that about 15 days ago, the Pathankot SSP had advised Sharma to suspend his morning walks due to a specific threat perception.

He said whether there is any link between that warning and the blast is a matter of investigation, but the coincidence cannot be ignored.

Calling it more than just an attack on a party office, Singh said the incident raises concerns over security arrangements and intelligence coordination in Punjab.

He demanded that those responsible be identified and brought to justice at the earliest, asserting that there should be zero tolerance for such acts.
