Chandigarh: A bomb threat has been reported at the Punjab Civil Secretariat located in Chandigarh, the joint capital of Punjab and Haryana, prompting swift action by security agencies.
Following the receipt of the threat, Chandigarh Police and other security agencies were put on high alert. The Punjab and Haryana Civil Secretariat complex was evacuated, and a thorough search operation was launched.
Officials have so far refrained from sharing details on how the threat was received. However, according to information provided by employees at the Punjab Civil Secretariat, all staff members were asked to vacate the premises after the threat was reported. A large contingent of police personnel is currently conducting checks inside the building.
The development comes a day after bomb threats were sent to 30 schools in Chandigarh. Acting on the information, Chandigarh Police and the administration jointly evacuated the schools and carried out extensive search operations, but no suspicious items were found.
It is noteworthy that similar bomb threats have been reported in the past at the Punjab and Haryana High Court and the Haryana Secretariat as well.
