Chandigarh: A woman has alleged that she was assaulted and her modesty outraged inside an office during a dispute over a visa file, following which police registered a case and launched a search for the accused.
According to the complainant, Ramandeep Kaur, the incident took place on January 22 when she was present in the office along with her employer, Sahil Arora. She said Sarabjit Singh and Lakhwinder Kaur arrived at the office to discuss a visa-related matter. A short while later, two more persons, identified as Diljaan and Sukhmanjit, also reached the spot.
Ramandeep Kaur alleged that during the discussion, the accused began abusing her. When Sahil Arora attempted to intervene, the accused allegedly called more unidentified associates, after which the situation escalated.
She claimed that the group assaulted them inside the office. When she tried to flee to save herself, the accused allegedly pulled and tore her clothes, leading to outrage of her modesty. The incident caused panic and chaos at the office, she said.
Police said a case has been registered against four persons under sections 74, 115(2), 126(2), 351(2) and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Officials said efforts were on to trace and arrest the accused, and further investigation is underway.
