Chandigarh: The Union Ministry of External Affairs has denied permission for Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann’s proposed foreign visit. Earlier as well, the Chief Minister had not received approval to travel to Paris.
According to official sources, the Chief Minister was scheduled to visit England and Israel along with Cabinet Minister Sanjeev Arora.
However, the Centre declined to grant clearance for the tour. No reason has been cited by the Union government for refusing permission.
The visit was planned with the objective of promoting investment in Punjab. It is pertinent to note that the Punjab government is set to organise an investment summit in the state in March.
