CHANDIGARH: The people of Chandigarh, the joint capital of Punjab and Haryana, have once again shown their passion for luxury vehicles and fancy registration numbers.
In the recent fancy number auction, the coveted 0001 number fetched ₹22.58 lakh, while 0007 was sold for ₹10.94 lakh.
The auction, held from October 29 to 31 by the Registering and Licensing Authority (RLA) of the UT administration, featured the new CH-01-DB series. The administration collected a total revenue of ₹2.71 crore from the auction.
Officials said that Chandigarh continues to witness high demand for premium registration numbers, with many residents willing to spend lakhs to secure exclusive digits. In the previous auction, the 0001 number had fetched a record ₹36 lakh.
