Chandigarh: Residents of Chandigarh have once again shown their fascination for luxury vehicles and fancy registration numbers, with lakhs of rupees spent during the latest auction of VIP vehicle numbers.
In the recent auction of the new series CH 01 DD, the registration number 0001 was sold for ₹53.88 lakh, making it the highest price ever recorded for a vehicle number in the city.
Several other numbers also attracted high bids during the auction. Number 0003 was sold for ₹32.32 lakh, while 0005 fetched ₹17.50 lakh. Similarly, 0009 was auctioned for ₹14.40 lakh and 0007 for ₹14.22 lakh.
Other numbers included 1000 sold for ₹9.19 lakh, 0006 for ₹8.50 lakh, 0008 for ₹8.24 lakh, 0002 for ₹7.25 lakh and 0100 for ₹6.23 lakh.
According to officials, the Chandigarh Administration earned a total of ₹4.48 crore from the auction of fancy vehicle numbers ranging from 0001 to 9999 in the CH 01 DD series.
