Chandigarh: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Thursday said that compensation to flood-affected people will be disbursed within a month and a half, with the first cheque expected in a month.
After holding a virtual meeting with Deputy Commissioners, the Chief Minister said that the special girdawari will be completed in 30 to 40 days. He assured that the compensation amount will reach people by Diwali.
“I will neither sleep peacefully nor let the authorities sleep until the money for flood damages is received by the people. The stove of any house will not be allowed to be extinguished,” Mann said while addressing a press conference.
