Chandigarh: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Thursday directed the state’s senior police leadership to step up enforcement and ensure strict rule of law across Punjab.
Chairing a high-level review meeting through video conferencing with police commissioners, Inspectors General (IGs), Deputy Inspectors General (DIGs) and Senior Superintendents of Police (SPs), Mann emphasised that the ‘war against drugs’ and decisive action against gangster networks remain the government’s top priorities.
The Chief Minister said the ongoing drive must culminate in the complete eradication of the drug menace and the dismantling of organised criminal networks operating in the state. He asserted that the Aam Aadmi Party-led government is fully committed to safeguarding the lives and property of ordinary citizens.
While underlining the need for stringent action against offenders, Mann also stressed that long-term security for Punjab’s youth depends on expanding employment opportunities, strengthening education and improving career counselling. He said a holistic approach would help prevent young people from falling into the trap of drugs and crime.
The Chief Minister asked senior officers to maintain close coordination at all levels and ensure swift, visible action to reinforce public confidence in the law enforcement system.
