Chandigarh: Reacting sharply to a press conference held by Delhi Assembly Speaker Vijender Gupta over a video involving Atishi, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Saturday accused the BJP of political vendetta and misuse of investigative agencies.
Mann said that the forensic report had clearly stated that Atishi did not make the remarks being attributed to her, a position that has also been upheld by the court. “When the forensic report itself says Atishi did not say any such thing, and the court has also said the same, then if the BJP’s CBI considers itself above forensic evidence, they are free to order an inquiry,” he said.
The Punjab chief minister alleged that the issue had been deliberately distorted through the use of misleading subtitles, amounting to disrespect and misrepresentation. He accused the Bharatiya Janata Party of engaging in political score-settling and misusing central probe agencies, asserting that such allegations hold no ground when technical evidence supports Atishi’s version.
The remarks came as Mann is in Delhi, where he is scheduled to meet Union home minister Amit Shah.
