CM Mann seeks live telecast of his clarification before Akal Takht on January 15

Chandigarh: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann has appealed to the Akal Takht Sahib and its acting Jathedar, Giani Kuldeep Singh Gargajj, to allow a live telecast of his clarification scheduled for January 15. Mann made the request through a post on X (formerly Twitter).

In his post, the chief minister said he has been receiving messages from across the world demanding that when he presents the accounts related to the golak (offerings), the proceedings should be broadcast live on all channels.

Mann said he respects the sentiments of the global Sikh community and has therefore requested the Jathedar to allow a live telecast of his explanation so that the sangat can remain informed about every detail. He added that he would appear on January 15 with full evidence.

It is pertinent to note that Akal Takht Sahib’s acting Jathedar, Giani Kuldeep Singh Gargajj, has summoned Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann to the Akal Takht Secretariat on January 15. The summons was issued in connection with allegations that Mann displayed an anti-Sikh mindset.

In the notice sent to the chief minister, it has been alleged that his remarks against the supremacy, dignity and traditions of the Akal Takht Sahib and comments related to the Guru’s golak hurt Sikh sentiments. The letter also refers to certain videos that have surfaced in which Mann is allegedly seen making objectionable gestures in front of a photograph of Sant Jarnail Singh Khalsa Bhindranwale.

The letter further said that although Mann holds a high constitutional post, his conduct reflects an attitude of state arrogance.
