Ayodhya: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath targeted the Samajwadi Party and the Congress during the Ayodhya Deepotsav celebrations on Saturday, recalling the struggles of the Ram Janmabhoomi movement.
“When we are illuminating Ayodhya Dham with lakhs of lamps, we should not forget that during the Ram Janmabhoomi movement, the Congress had said in court that Lord Shri Ram is a myth, and the Samajwadi Party had fired bullets on Ram devotees in Ayodhya,” Yogi Adityanath said.
A day earlier, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav had criticised the state government’s spending on the Deepotsav celebrations, calling the expenditure on lamps and candles wasteful. “Why spend on lamps and candles again and again? What do you expect from this government? Remove this government, and we will light up beautifully,” Akhilesh had said.
During his speech, Yogi Adityanath said every lamp lit during the celebration symbolised the triumph of truth over adversity.
“Every lamp reminds us that truth can be troubled but not defeated. Sanatan Dharma continued to struggle for 500 years with the destiny of being victorious. As a result of those struggles, a grand and divine temple was built in Ayodhya,” he said.
