New Delhi: Congress MP Sudha Ramakrishnan was allegedly injured in a chain-snatching incident in Delhi’s high-security Chanakyapuri area around 6 am on Monday. The incident occurred while she was taking a morning walk with DMK MP Rajathi.
According to police, a miscreant on a scooty snatched her gold chain, causing an injury to her neck. Sudha, the MP from Mayiladuthurai in Tamil Nadu, is currently in the capital to attend the Monsoon Session of Parliament.
A case has been registered by the Delhi Police, and an investigation is underway. In a letter addressed to Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, and Delhi Police officials, Sudha wrote, “I have lost a gold chain weighing more than four sovereigns (about 32 grams), and I am deeply shocked by this criminal attack.”
The incident has raised serious questions about security in the Chanakyapuri area, which houses several embassies and official residences of state governments and is considered one of the most secure zones in the capital.
