Congress reviews Bihar poll loss, alleges BJP rigged elections

New Delhi: The Congress held a review meeting at party president Mallikarjun Kharge’s residence after the party’s poor performance in the Bihar Assembly elections. Rahul Gandhi, KC Venugopal and Ajay Maken were also present.

Party leaders discussed shortcomings and shared suggestions for upcoming elections.

After the meeting, Congress leaders accused the BJP of rigging the election. Venugopal said the party was collecting evidence of alleged irregularities which would be made public within two weeks.

The Congress contested 60 seats in Bihar and secured victories in only six constituencies. In the 2020 elections, the party fielded 70 candidates, won 19 seats and recorded a 9.6 per cent vote share.
