Goa: The death toll in the massive fire that broke out at a club in Arpora, North Goa, has risen to 25, officials said on Sunday. The victims include four tourists and 14 staff members, while seven bodies recovered from the site are yet to be identified.
Goa Police said the fire occurred at Birch by Romeo Lane, adding that six people were injured and are currently undergoing treatment. “At least 25 people, including 4 tourists, 14 staff members, and seven yet to be identified, have died following a massive fire in Arpora,” the police said.
Investigations by the police and fire brigade are underway to determine the cause of the blaze. Authorities added that legal action is being taken.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has announced an ex-gratia of ₹2 lakh each for the families of those who lost their lives in the accident.
