New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta was attacked during a weekly ‘Jan Sunhearing’ programme at her official residence in Civil Lines on Wednesday morning, the BJP said.
Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva condemned the incident and called it a “serious attack” on the chief minister. Party sources said the accused, identified as 41-year-old Rajesh Khimji from Rajkot, Gujarat, initially handed over some papers to Gupta before allegedly attacking her.
Police said Khimji has been taken into custody and is being questioned.
Senior police officials, including DCP North Raja Banthia, reached the chief minister’s residence after the incident.
