Delhi High Court questions Patanjali over calling rival Chyawanprash brands ‘fraudulent’

New Delhi: The Delhi High Court on Thursday questioned Patanjali Ayurved over its advertisements that allegedly labelled other Chyawanprash products as “fraudulent.” The court’s remarks came during the hearing of a petition filed by Dabur India, which sought action against Patanjali for making such claims.

The bench reserved its verdict in the matter and observed that while comparisons between competing products are permissible in advertisements, depicting rival brands as inferior is not justified.

The court advised yoga guru Ramdev’s Patanjali to consider using alternative terms in its advertising campaigns, stating that calling other Chyawanprash products “fraudulent” was inappropriate and potentially misleading to consumers.
