Delhi orders 50% staff in offices to work from home as pollution worsens

New Delhi: Amid rising air pollution levels in the national capital, the Delhi government on Tuesday directed all government and private offices to operate with only 50 per cent staff physically present. The remaining employees have been asked to work from home.

The order has been issued under the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) Level 3, enforced by the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) to curb deteriorating air quality.

According to the government, all offices in Delhi must immediately implement the 50 per cent attendance cap as part of emergency pollution-control measures.

Officials said the decision aims to reduce traffic and emissions as air quality continues to remain in the “severe” category.

The directive will remain in force until further orders, the government said.
