Delhi Police bust LPG black marketing racket, father-son duo held with 50 cylinders

New Delhi: The Crime Branch of Delhi Police has busted an illegal LPG cylinder black marketing racket operating in the Rohini-Kanjhawala area of outer Delhi, arresting a father-son duo and seizing 50 domestic gas cylinders.

The accused have been identified as Kunwar Pal (55) and Pankaj Pal (21), who were apprehended following raids in Sukhbir Nagar and Rama Vihar.

Police said that Kunwar Pal was an authorised delivery man for a gas agency but allegedly diverted cylinders meant for customers and stored them at his residence. The cylinders were then illegally refilled and sold at higher prices.

Out of the 50 cylinders recovered, 29 were filled and 21 were empty. Authorities also seized a vehicle used for transportation and a weighing scale from the spot.

A case has been registered under relevant sections of the Essential Commodities Act and the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.

Police are now probing whether more individuals or agencies are involved in the racket, noting that such illegal refilling operations in residential areas pose a serious threat to public safety.
