Gurugram: A Delhi-based property dealer was shot dead in Gurugram, Haryana, in what police suspect may be a targeted attack. The deceased has been identified as 40-year-old Rohit Shokeen, a resident of Nangloi in west Delhi.
Initial reports claim that Rohit was associated as a financier with Haryanvi singer Fazilpuria. However, the singer has distanced himself from the incident, denying any links to the victim. “This murder should not be connected to me in any way. I don’t know Rohit Shokeen, and he is not my financier,” Fazilpuria said in a statement.
Meanwhile, Rohit’s family has alleged that a man named Deepak Nandal had called him from Delhi to Gurugram. They further claimed that it was Deepak who had introduced Rohit to Fazilpuria.
The case took another turn when a youth named Sunil Sardhania allegedly claimed responsibility for the murder. A threatening post surfaced online stating that Fazilpuria would be forced to repay a certain amount of money and warned of further violence. The post ended with the names of Sunil Sardhania, Deepak Nandal, and Rao Inderjit Yadav.
Police have launched an investigation into the matter.
