Chandigarh: Punjab Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav on Thursday instructed police personnel on VIP duty to remain polite and respectful while interacting with the public, following allegations that a vehicle in a VIP convoy collided with the car of Lt Gen (retd) D S Hooda.
Hooda had alleged that a Punjab Police vehicle, part of a VIP escort, hit his car on the Zirakpur flyover in Mohali and fled the scene. He tagged Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and DGP Gaurav Yadav in a post on X, seeking action in the matter.
In response, DGP Yadav said the Punjab Police, as a professional force, follows a policy of zero tolerance for misbehaviour. He added that ensuring the safety and respect of people on the roads is a key part of this policy.
