Jalandhar: A dog was brutally beaten to death near Sansarpur in Jalandhar Cantt after being attacked with a hockey stick, police said. CCTV footage of the incident shows a man assaulting the dog.
A written complaint has been lodged by local residents at the Jalandhar Cantt police station. In her statement, Anju, a resident of Sansarpur, said she takes care of the dogs that sit outside their house. She alleged that Swarnjit Singh, also known as Soni, attacked one dog with a hockey stick, killing it, and tried to injure other dogs.
She added that the accused is allegedly addicted to alcohol, which led to the crime. The family handed over the CCTV footage to the police to aid the investigation.
The complaint has signatures of several other residents demanding swift action. Police have begun probing the case based on the video evidence.
