After health and education revolution, now begins Punjab’s power revolution,” says Dr. Balbir Singh
Patiala News (Pawan Dhupar): Punjab Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr. Balbir Singh today inaugurated power infrastructure projects worth ₹245 crore in district Patiala, aimed at construction, expansion, and upgradation of power systems across the region. These projects have been launched under the leadership of Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann and Power Minister S. Sanjiv Arora.
Speaking at the 66 KV Power Station, Sanouri Adda, Dr. Balbir Singh said that the Punjab Government is ushering in a new era of reforms in the power sector to ensure uninterrupted and high-quality electricity supply to every home, farm, and industry.
He said, “Just as the Punjab Government has started a health revolution by providing accessible and quality healthcare to people, a power revolution is now underway to transform the state’s electricity infrastructure. Without electricity, neither homes, nor agriculture, nor industries can function—it is the lifeline of development.”
Dr. Balbir Singh informed that the ₹245 crore projects will comprehensively upgrade the district’s power infrastructure through repair of old and dilapidated lines, construction of new transmission networks, and installation of high-capacity transformers. These steps will help eliminate power cuts and voltage fluctuations, ensuring smooth and stable power for all consumers.
Reaffirming the government’s commitment, he said, “The Punjab Government considers electricity a basic necessity and is dedicated to providing it at simple and affordable rates. From industrial growth to modern agriculture, reliable power supply is key to every sector—and our government is ensuring that no resident of Punjab suffers due to power shortages.”
He further added that strengthening the power infrastructure will not only address present-day requirements but also build a robust foundation for the coming decades. “This is an investment in the development of Punjab that will create new employment opportunities and improve the quality of life for our citizens,” he noted.
Officials from PSPCL and PSTCL assured that the pace of work will remain fast so that tangible results can be seen soon.
Among those present on the occasion were Mayor Kundan Gogia, District President Tejinder Mehta, Jasbir Gandhi, and officers and employees of PSPCL and PSTCL.
