Dream11 exits as Team India’s lead sponsor after online gaming ban

New Delhi: Dream11 has stepped down as the lead sponsor of the Indian cricket team ahead of the Asia Cup 2025. The development was confirmed by BCCI Secretary Devjit Saikia on Monday.

“The bill that regulates online gaming has been passed. So BCCI and Dream11 will no longer be together. BCCI will not be associated with any such (online gaming) company in the future,” Saikia said.

The new law bans real-money gaming platforms, including Dream11. The fantasy sports company had signed a three-year sponsorship deal with BCCI in 2023 worth ₹358 crore.

Dream11, however, will not face any penalty for ending the agreement early. The contract included a special clause that allows termination without penalty if a government law directly impacts the sponsor’s core business.

With the online gaming ban affecting Dream11’s operations, the company exercised this clause to withdraw from the sponsorship deal.
