Raipur: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has arrested Chaitanya Baghel, son of former Chhattisgarh chief minister and Congress Punjab affairs in-charge Bhupesh Baghel, in connection with a money laundering case related to the Rs 2,100-crore liquor scam.
The ED had raided Chaitanya Baghel’s residence in Bhilai before the formal arrest. Bhupesh Baghel also resides at the same address. Earlier, the agency had conducted raids against Chaitanya on March 10 in the same case.
Reacting to the development, Bhupesh Baghel termed the ED raids as politically motivated, alleging that the action was taken on the last day of the Assembly session.
The Congress has boycotted the proceedings of the Chhattisgarh Assembly in protest, with party leaders accusing the agency of attempting to harass the opposition.
