England edge Pakistan by two wickets in Super 8 thriller at Pallekele

Pallekele: England defeated Pakistan by two wickets in a nail-biting Super 8 clash of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup at Pallekele on Tuesday.

Batting first after winning the toss, Pakistan posted 164/9 in their allotted 20 overs. In reply, England chased down the target with eight wickets down, sealing victory in the closing stages of the match.

Brook’s century proves decisive

Harry Brook starred with a brilliant century to anchor England’s chase under pressure. Despite a spirited bowling effort from Shaheen Afridi, Pakistan were unable to defend the total.

Pakistan had made one change to their playing XI, bringing in Shaheen Afridi in place of all-rounder Faheem Ashraf. England, on the other hand, fielded an unchanged side.

The win keeps England firmly in contention for a semi-final berth, while Pakistan’s campaign faces added pressure in the Super 8 stage.
