Fake certificate used to secure government job detected in Punjab, woman blacklisted

CHANDIGARH: A case of securing a government job using a fake educational certificate has surfaced in Punjab after verification by the Punjab School Education Board (PSEB).

According to officials, a certificate sent by the Block Primary Education Officer Banur (BPEO) for verification was found to be forged. The certificate, issued in the name of Navneet Kaur, was dated 2001 and was submitted for scrutiny to the PSEB.

During verification, the board found that while the name and address mentioned on the certificate matched records from Ferozepur, the candidate had not passed the examination. However, the certificate falsely showed a passing score of 293 marks.

Officials confirmed that the certificate had not been issued by the board and was therefore fake. Following this, the PSEB has blacklisted the woman in its records. The board has also forwarded a copy of the relevant gazette and verification report to the concerned department.

Authorities said further action will now be taken by the department concerned in accordance with rules.
