LUDHIANA: A young man identified as Gagandeep Singh, also known as Gagan, from Boparai Kalan in the Halwara area, died allegedly due to a drug overdose. His family has accused two of his friends of injecting him with drugs, leading to a sudden deterioration in his condition.
Gagan’s brother, Jasdeep Singh Jassa, and local businessman Gary Saholi said they would not allow a postmortem or perform the last rites until the two accused were arrested and a murder case was registered.
The parents of the deceased, who live in the United States, have been informed and are returning to India. The body is currently kept at the Boparai Kalan mortuary.
According to the complaint, Gagan had left home on Tuesday evening with two friends on a motorcycle. Later that night, the two allegedly abandoned him in a serious condition at the main gate of the house.
Family members said he was repeatedly vomiting. Before collapsing, Gagan reportedly told his family that his friends had injected him with an excessive dose of drugs, after which his health deteriorated. Police have begun an inquiry into the allegations.
