Chandigarh: The family of deceased Punjab Warehousing Corporation district manager Gagandeep Singh Randhawa has refused to allow a postmortem until the immediate arrest of former minister Laljit Singh Bhullar and other accused in the case.
Speaking to the media, Randhawa’s wife Upinder Kaur alleged that her husband was under severe pressure, physically assaulted and humiliated, which led him to take the extreme step. She said the family would not permit postmortem or last rites until the accused are taken into custody.
“We want justice first. Only after the arrest of the accused minister will we allow further procedures,” she said, while also raising concerns over the delay in registering the FIR, which was filed around midnight.
The family has also sought immediate police protection, warning that any harm to them would be the responsibility of the government.
The case has triggered a major political storm in Punjab, with opposition parties intensifying protests against Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and demanding strict action.
An FIR has been registered at Ranjit Avenue police station under sections 108, 351(3) and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, with police stating that further investigation is underway.
