Fatehgarh youth alleges ₹7.5 lakh fraud by travel company, complaint filed

FATEHGARH SAHIB: A young man from Sirhind in Fatehgarh Sahib has alleged that he was duped of ₹7.5 lakh by a company that promised to send him to Australia.

The victim said he arranged the money by exhausting his savings and mortgaging his gold jewellery. He added that he is still paying a monthly instalment of ₹16,000 for the mortgaged jewellery.

Despite receiving the full payment, the company neither facilitated his travel abroad nor returned the money. Left with no option, the youth approached the police and filed a formal complaint.

Police officials said a preliminary investigation has begun and appropriate action will be taken if fraud is established.

The complainant, Gagandeep, said he had earlier travelled to England and returned to India with plans to go abroad again for better work opportunities. He came across the accused company’s advertisement on social media and contacted them, after which the alleged fraud took place.
